John C. and his brother, Henry, were "tenants in common equal shares of the land whereof Christian Creager died being one hundred and forty acres and forty four perches situated in Sections 28 and 34 of the Second Twp. of the sixth Range between the Great and Little Miami rivers in the County of Montgomery and State of Ohio...." The deed separating the land was recorded August 18, 1848. "....the said parties have concluded to have and to hold and enjoy their respective parts thereof..." The family of John C. John C. Creager resided in Washington Township for more than 50 years. He was one of the successful farmers in the area. His farm was said to have been a model farm until his health began to fail. He was honored for his integrity and good judgment. He was genial and of good sociable nature and had a hospitable nature in both social and business. During his waning last three years of life, his wife Elizabeth nursed and cared for his every need. John C. died about 10:00 Friday evening on the 5th of February 1897 at his home in Centerville, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was 79 years, 11 months & 10 days of age when he passed away. His funeral service took place at 2:00 P.M. in David's Church of the German Reformed donomination, where he had been an honored member for years. He was laid to rest in the cemetery of David's Church.
