Emanuel and Mary Jane set up housekeeping and farming with some items purchased from the public auction of his father's (Christian's) estate, as Christian Creager had died a year previously. In 1840, the couple and children were living in Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio with two Children. Emanuel and Mary Jane became members of David's Reformed Church on 19 May 1844.
