Information on John Claypoole

The first Claypool came over with William Penn from England and was given a 5,000 acre grant in Pennsylvania. John Claypoole was clerk of the Colonial Assembly from 1686 to 1690; collector of Supply Money for Philadelphia; appointed as High Sheriff of Philadelphia in 1687 and again in 1693.
