!The descendants of This John Carpenter born about 1525/1530 probably is not John Als. Whelan Carpenter born about 1520/1525 of Downton, Wiltshire, England. This connection is a temporary arrangement until further information comes forth. Maybe this line goes back further on its own? !WILL: Is this the John Carpenter als. Wheller(en) of Downton whose inventory and bond (admon) was dated 03 Jan 1615 (Bk. 8 to 302)? !BOOK: Wiltshire Visitation Pedigrees, 1623 Vol. II at the Wiltshire Records Officer in Throwbridge, Wiltshire, England. Page 35. CARPENTER [1 C. 22, 69; Lyte 65; Harl. 1165, 37a.] [No Arms in 1 C. 22.] [Arms: - Party per pale indented or and azure, three eagles displayed counter-changed.] [Not to be allowed but upon better prouffe for he produced a pedigree made by Sankey a famous Imposter.] It makes this line very interesting because what has been found and the change to the line from an "adopted" or secondary line into a Royalty or official line. The change is with this John who is listed as: John Carpenter de Allcannings in Com Wilts. == Dau. of Ersfeild. Then comes: William Carpenter de Allcannings sonne et heyre == Dau. of Unwyne. I have found William as the stepfather of John and John was not the heir. Then comes: John Carpenter of Allcannings in Com Wilts == Dau. of Barlett (Bartlett). I have found that the real father was John Whelan. The stepgrandfather would be William Carpenter of Homme b. 1440. JRC Apr 2000 |
