Will of John Carlyle, written 5 April 1780, proven 17 October 1780.
Legatees: Grandson Carlyle Fairfax Whiting (to have 1,524 acres of land in Culpepper County, patented in name of George William Fairfax and his sister Sarah, my first wife), Grandson John Carlyle Herbert, dau. [of] Sarah Herbert, cousin Charles Little, son George William Carlyle, 500 pounds to poor of Presbyterian Society, near Alexandria.
Exrs: William Herbert (son-in-law), Charles Little* (cousin), friends William Elzey and Robert McCrea.
