In 1880 census, 4 yo John is living in Avery with his parents and sibs William (18), Bessie J. (16), Sarah A. (14), and Maud (11). In 1900 census, John is gone and 19 yo Albert G. is living with his parents in Troy Twp., Monroe County, Iowa.(Not sure where John has gone, but I suspect Mexico.) In 1910 census, John is 33 yo and living with wife Mabel (22yo) and daughter Helen (3yo) in South Choctow Twp., Lincoln Co., Oklahoma. His occupation is listed as a physician with a general practice. In 1920 census, John (43 yo) and Mabel (33yo) are living in southern Illinois with their children, Helen (12 yo), John Robert (4 yo), and Billie (1 mo.) John is listed as a doctor.

In Jan. 1920, Dr. John Byers attended the 80th birthday party for his mother Rebecca Byers with his new wife.

In the 1925 Iowa State Census, Ruth and John R. Byers are living in Pochahontas County with 3 year old step-daughter Jane J. Crew.

In 1930 census, John R. is living in Pocohantas County, Iowa and married to Ruth J. with NO kids?

In 1930 census, Mabel has remarried and is living in Sugar Loaf Twp., St. Clair Co., IL with husband Frederick L. Glazier, two daughters of his and 14 yo stepson John R. Byers. Still cannot find out what happened to Helen or Baby Billie.
