Facts and Events
Name John Bonser
Gender Male
Christening[1] 5 Feb 1759 Colston Bassett, Nottinghamshire, England

John Bonser was baptised on 5th February 1759 at Colston Bassett in Nottinghamshire, son of Elizabeth Bonser, formerly Cam, and her husband William Bonser, a weaver. John was the second of their five children. When John was seven years old his mother died.

In 1769 John's father married again, with Ann Wild thus becoming John's stepmother.

John was named in his father's will, written in April 1777, being one of two residuary legatees alongside his stepmother, and joint executor with his stepmother and two uncles. John's father died later that same year. John has yet to be traced after 1777. It would appear that there were two adult John Bonsers living in Colston Bassett in the late 1700s, one married to a Sarah and the other married to an Ann. Insufficient information has been found to establish which, if either, is this John.
