Nel Hatcher (nelhatch@hills.net:

The main thrust of my John Bolding/Rebekah Rhea Ged is that itcompletely eliminates John /Mary Tarpley as parents of John T. andJames, attaching those boys to John/Rebecca. This is what Hazael isfighting so hard against. In earlier discussions with the group, weproved that John/Rebecca was the son of James/Elizabeth who died 1772in Henry Co. (Virginia). The clue was Wm who died 1778 in the Rev.War and the depo of Elizabeth Cooper who identified John as Wm's legalheir. The assumption had always been that John was Wm's son but thisis not true. Wm. died intestate (John was appointed administrator),without wife or kids and under the laws of primogeniture, Wm's eldestliving brother inherited any land of the dec'd. Other records showedthat there was only one Wm. who owned land in Henry County (Virginia)in this time frame and that was Wm., son of James who bequeathed landon Bolling Creek to his son, William. Other records showed that ofJames/Elizabeth's' sons, John was the eldest and that the only John inHenry Co. who was old enough was John'Rebecca Rhea. (January 31,2005)

"Elizabeth Cooper made oath that John Bolling is the lawful heir ofWilliam Bolling, deceased, who went from this County into theContinental Service and there died. The Administration of the Estateof William Bolling is granted to John Bolling, who made oath withRussell Cox and Philip Ryan, his securities. Russell Cox, ThomasWilson, Phillip Bearsheers and Samuel Tarrant are appointed toappraise the estate. (p. 46)

1800 Census, Greenville County, SC, household 778, Image 40 John Bowlen 1 male, under 10 3 males, 16 through 25 1 male 45 and over 1 female under 10 2 females, 16 through 25 1 female 45 and over

In 1800 there are 3 sons ages 16 through 25. Two of these sons wouldbe Collins and James. The third son is unknown and it appears thatone of these sons is married and has a son and daughter (both 0-10)with all living with John, Sr. If this theory is correct, the "widow"Rebecca age 26-45, found in the 1810 Greenville census with a son(10-16) may be the widow of this unknown son of John. Son Obediah isliving next door to John, Sr.

The following records proves at least these 4 sons of John andRebecca.
