Capt. John AVERY died in Sussex Co., DE about November 1682. His widow Sarah married Robert Clifton. Later documents say Thomas Clifton. A daughter Mary AVERY married Hercules SHEPHERD. John AVERY is mentioned in records of Somerset Co., MD (1674) and Accomack Co., VA. (1678) Gov. Edmond Andross makes him a captain in 1675. He has land claims in MD in 1665, 200 acres.
