Johanna McKay Kryder, daughter of William and Effie McKay was born June 26, 1870, in Seaforth, Ontario, and came to Michigan with her parents, when she was a child and they lived on their homestead in Echo Township, where she and her brothers and sisters attended the Marsh school. Her father left Canada to join the Civil War, 1861-86, and thus, became an American citizen. He died Jan 10, 1910 and his wife died June 6 of the same year.
Johanna was married to Henry Hosler and to this union was born one son, Frank, who passed away three years ago. She later was married to David Kryder at Benton Harbor, where they made their home until last fall when they came to Torch Lake to spend the winter with her brother, Donald McKay. She passed away very suddenly of a heart attack Saturday night, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 5 days.
The funeral was held at the Diton Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon, and burial was beside her parents.
Left to mourn are the husband David Kryder, the daugher-in-law, several grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
