Facts and Events
Name[1] Johann Nikel Maurer
Gender Male
Marriage to Unknown

JOHANN NIKEL MAURER was probably born and died in the tiny Palatine village of WALDGREHWEILER. Many of the names in "White Creek's" research have their origins in that village, and the surounding villages.

Besides Johann ADAM Maurer, did Johann Nikel have a son, Fredrich Maurer, Sr., who was born in 1806 in Waldgrehweiler? Fredrich's wife was Christina GEIBEL, daughter of Henry and Elisabetha (Glasser) Geibel, also from Waldgrehweiler, and who have pages in this WeRelate website. Fredrich and Christina were married in Tuscarawas County in 1842, and migrated to Wabash County, Indiana before 1850. Perhaps they were in the group of pioneers lead by DANIEL LOWER who migrated in circa 1848, as described in the History of Tuscarawas County, Ohio (1884)?

There was an Adam M. Maurer who was also born in WALDGREHWEILER (in 1801). Was he possibly also a son of Johann Nikel Maurer? There is data about his daughter, Catherine, who married Philip Miller, who was also a native of Waldgrehweiler! Their children were all born in Bucks Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio! Catherine's mother was Katharina WASEM! The Wasem name is associated with early settlers who migrated to Tuscarawas County, from Palatine areas near Waldgrehweiler, and who later migrated on to Wabash County! Adam Maurer (b. 1801) is another Maurer family not linked to these Maurer families, and thus not listed in these WeRelate pages.

Adjacent to Bucks Township, is Auburn Township, which has a number of MAURER individuals who are related, and who are listed with WeRelate pages. However, many of them are not related through the Maurer family because some of these "other" Maurers were natives of Canton Bern, Switzerland! Thus they are not Palatines.
