Oldenburg Germany is near the North Sea, Close to Bremen. Germany. Came in the US from a port in Indianola, TX but the whole town was destroyed by a hurricane. And was never rebuilt. They moved on to their new settlement and named it Oldenburg. After their hometown in Germany.

      • February 27th 1860 filed with court of Fayette Co. Tx. John was native to Oldenburg. On September 4th 1857 filed in County Clerk of Fayette Co. Tx his declaration of intention to renounce all allegiance from Grand Duke of Oldenburg whom he was before a Subject, to become a citizen of the United States of America. And it further appearing that John Imken has resided within the US for the last 5 years proceeding this application, and for 1 year next proceeding this application within the State of Texas, and having produced satisfactory evidence to the Court that he is a man of moral, character and well disposed towards the Government and the Constitution, and taking the Oath of Alligiance prescribed by law to support the Consitution.
          • He was in the Waul's Texas Legion with his brothers Gerhard and Christian Imken.
