He was in Waul's Texas Legion in the Civil War. This has not been proven but there is a " The Clarion List" in a publication in the Jackson City Civil War era newspaper -of all the names of the soldiers that died on the battlefield of this major battle. The Confederate soldiers are buried at the "Soldiers Rest" section of Cedar Hill Cem in Vicksburg City Cem.
