Joanna's father Rev Allen Wiley, Sr. served in the French and Indian War and "was a prominent early Baptist minister in Virginia, serving churches in Orange, Stafford, Frederick and Culpeper Counties. A full account of his life is given in "The Virginia Baptist Register", No. 1, 1962, published by the Virginia Baptist Historical Society."
