Jedediah Perkins Ladd (son of Abner 55) was bo. In Franklin, Conn., Feb. 16, 1767; ma. Rebecca, dau. of Joseph Hazen. He removed from Franklin, Conn., to North Hero. Vt., about 1787. "The first store in North Hero was built in 1809 by Jedediah P. Ladd, who was the first postmaster, and built the only hotel ever erected in town, in 1803. For twenty years it was used for judicial purpose, and was provided with a courtroom and jail. Mr. Ladd occupied the building forty-two years, during which time it had served as court-house, church, and tavern. It was burnt down in 1857. Mr. Ladd, who had served as representative, sheriff, register of probate, and judge of the county court, died June 2, 1845. "History of New England, vol. 2, p. 308." His widow died Sept. 20, 1847.
