It is without question that John Rayburn’s spouse was named McClaren, as the will of Jane Rayburn, probated in 1828 in Montgomery Co., Virginia, clearly identifies her brother as James McClaren [Montgomery County, Virginia Circuit Court, Will Books, Volume 4, Page 352]. The name of her brother as James McClaren is also confirmed in deed dated 16 October 1830, recorded in White County, Tennessee Deed Records, Volume “H,” Pages 139 & 140, from Jane Rayburn’s children and heirs.
