Jean/Jane DENNISTOUN was b. abt 1750. Jean married Andrew BUCHANAN (Genealogical and heraldic dictionary of the landed gentry, 1836) of Ardenconnal in 1769 (Minute book of the Board of Green Cloth). Jane married 1769 Andrew Buchanan of Ardinconnal, Dunbartonshire, and Auchingray, JP, DL (1745-1833) (Buchanan Book, 1911, by A. Buchanan). Jane (d. 15sep1832), eldest daughter of James Dennistoun of Colgrain, married 3jul1769 Andrew Buchanan (12jul1745-14jul1833/5, 1835 must be right), son of Archibald Buchanan of Auchintorlie (d. 1760) and Martha Murdoch (b. 21feb1702), daughter of Provost Peter Murdoch of Rosehill (Burkes Landed Gentry). Scottish archives have the wills of Jean Buchanan alias Dennistoun, wife of Andrew Buchanan, d. 1832 at Ardenconal, reg. 1835; and Andrew Buchanan of Ardenconnal, Dunbartonshire, spouse of Jean Dennistoun, d. 1835 (scotlandspeople). A firm Dennistoun and Buchanan and Co., merchants, was in 1820 and 1831 at Candleriggs, Glasgow, (PO Directory), and in 1841 at 20 St. Vincent St.
