CONFLICT: Birth - two accounts from Michael and Judith Hamilton vary by a year (1856/7). Although family sources record James' death as being in 1919, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission memorial certificate for his son, James Norman in 1917 suggests he was already deceased at that time.
