Almost certainly the son of John & Elizabeth Smith, the only non-conformist birth in Bedfordshire of the right age the 1841 census only confirms that he was born in Bedfordshire

Beds archives has a Deed Poll of 13 Feb 1838 naming James Smith [of Eversholt, grazier] and his wife Ann Smith, In 1832 his warehouse was broken into and hides stolen (QSR1832/4/5/10) His will (Beds Archives BLARS ref 1845/32) only refers to his son Samuel

Samuel Smith 1841 unmarried in Eversholt 1851 a currier of Rads End, Lower, Eversholt married to Mary from Swanbourne with 5 children. 1861 a currier of Rads End, Lower, Eversholt with 5 children at home (2 born since 1851) 1881 retired, of same address, with wife unmarried duaghter Hannah and grandson Sidny born Middx 1891 same 3 adullts at the address plus a visiting Thomas family (his daughter Mary's?)


Joel Smith married Mary Bonest, born Bletchley 1806, dau of William, at eversholt 5 May 1840 In 1851 he was a leather seller living at Leighton Buzzard, High Street with his wife and daughter Charlotte born 1845

Mary Smith married John Adams In 1841 they were at High Street Ridgmont with two children, her mother in law and her sister Emma

Sarah Smith married Philip Smith, a cordwainer of Greenhill Street, Bedford, at Bedford St Paul on 31 October 1842
