Graveside funeral services will be at 11 AM, Friday, March 11, 2011 for James (Jim) Milburn Patterson at Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County. He died Wednesday, March 9, in Franklin, TN.


Jim was born in Chester County on August 23, 1920, the oldest son of Buford and Flossie Maness Patterson. He was married to Ramelle Sue Logan on September 4, 1941, in Corinth, MS. Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Coast Guard. The couple moved to Peoria, IL. in 1951 where Mr. Patterson worked for Caterpillar and the Brass Foundry. Following retirement they lived in Bells, TN. for a few years before moving to Decatur, AL. to live near their daughter. While living in Decatur, AL. He worked a number of years as a security guard. Mr. Patterson had lived in Franklin, TN. for about two year before his death.


Jim is survived by his wife, three daughters; Von Bara Hayward (John) of Fayetteville, AR; Sheila Roberts (John) of Decatur, AL; and Chris Smith (Donald) of Franklin, TN.; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Hulon (Faye) Patterson of Jackson, TN.; 2 sisters Thelma (Howard) Justice of Clarksville, TN. and Bonnie (Frank) Howard of Chapel Hill, TN. Mr. Patterson was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Freelon and Frank Patterson; and sisters, Jada, Ruby and Louise.


Jim was an active member of the church of Christ for more than 60 years. He had served as a Bible teacher and preacher.
