Research Notes
- Per Dunshee 4, James attended the Collegiate Reformed Protestant Dutch Church school for 9 years, from 28 Oct 1833 to 30 May 1842 with his brothers and sisters. He did not graduate and left school at the age of 14.
- POSSIBLE MATCH: Per 1850 Fed census 3, at age 22 he lived in Hempstead, Queens, NY (aka Long Island) in the household of his older brother, Lewis and worked as a shoemaker.
- Per GOFA1, James married a woman named Margaret Glover and died at sea at approximately 33 years of age. He left no issue.
