James and Annetta lived in Canada in January of 1882 but moved to Macomb County, Mich. before Nov. 1883. James became naturalized citizen Mar. 4, 1919. James and Annetta were a attractive couple. He about 6 feet tall, a towhead with a heavy head of hair and a moustache. She was about 5 feet tall with dark hair. They sang duet at church and danced the jig. He played violin and musical saw for square dancing. He was kind, gentle and loving to his family.

James owned Silverbrook Dairy Farm. Said to have been the first sanitary dairy barn in Washington, Mich. He was the leading diaryman in Macomb County. Founder of the Washington, Mich. Savings Bank. When he retired from his business of delivering butter and eggs to customers in Detroit and the area, he divided the business between his two sons, Roy and John Clive.

    Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. B.W. Pilinger, of Grace Episcopal Church, officiating at the J.W. Maney Chapel, 4763 Lincoln Ave., Detroit, for Mr. James M. Helfrich. Burial was in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Helfrich a leading dairyman in Macomb County, until he retired 25 years ago, and founder of the Washington (Mich.) Savings Bank, died Tuesday in Detroit. He moved there from Washington eight years ago and lived at 15701 Sorrento Ave., the home of a daughter Mrs. Sam F. Comer. He was born at Harrow, May 3, 1857. Surviving also are his wife, Annette and these other children: Roy E. and J. Clive Helfrich, Mrs. Lula R. Hartley, Mrs. Ralph E. Tofor, of Landsdowne P., and Mrs. H. Read Smith, of Tawas City Mich. A number of relatives from here attended the obsequies. Attending the funeral from Harrow were Mrs. Alvah Munger, a. T. Munger, John Munger, Guy Munger, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Wright."
