James William Gault was born near Decatur, in Macon County, Illinois, June 17, 1859, and departed this life, March 15, 1944 at his home in Howard, Kansas. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Maroa, Illinois, where he grew to young manhood. He was the youngest of seven children born to Daniel and Nancy Gault, all of which have preceded him to the great beyond. He united with the Presbyterian church at Maroa, Illinois, when he was 15 years of age. He came to Elk Falls, Kansas, in February, 1883 having spent 61 years of his life in Elk county. He married to Sarye Ann Collins, February 22, 1900. She passed away October 31, 1936. With his wife he was united with the Nazarene church in Howard in 1908 and he lived a devoted Christan Life. He leaves to mourn his loss several nieces and nephews, three step-daughters and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Moon Funeral Home, March 27th in Howard, conducted by Rev. W. B. McCollom, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene. Music was furnished by Mrs. Andrew Thompson, soloist, and Mrs. Noel Mullendore accompanist. The pall bearers were Chas. Riller, Clarence McLin, Chas. Van Buskirk, Will Nigh, Chas. Forsyth and James Dean. Interment was in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard.
