Gaines, James, born 1/1762 Culpeper County, Virginia, where entered service 1777 as substitute for father Henry; moved abt. 1783 to Chatham County, North Carolina, thence in 1812 to Moore County, North Carolina, where granted Pension in 1834; died 12/5/1854 in Montgomery County, North Carolina; married in 1844 to Cary/Cavy Kidd, Chatham County, North Carolina; widow granted Pension there in 1855 age 74, & granted Bounty Land Warrant #28548 there then. F-W25652, R1041.
