James Forsey was baptised on 27th December 1727 at Winsham in Somerset, son of Joan Forsey, formerly Sprake, and her husband James Forsey.

It seems quite likely that James was the James Forsey who married Ann Sibley in the neighbouring parish of Crewkerne in 1758, but this has yet to be proven.
