James Thomas was an uncle that I never knew I had until we began research in Southampton County. We found his Marraige License and then his tombstone in Boykins, VA. I spoke with his wife, Frances, in 1994 or so, and she told me that he was "a very nice man, not like the other Britt brothers", She had very little else to say. She was 36 when she married Uncle James and he was 46. He was a drug salesman, and her Father owned a large drugstore. She worked in the post office for many years.

According to the US Census of 1930, James (at age 26) boarded with Lee A. Hill (age 54) and his wife Pauline D. (age50) in Boykins, Southampton County, Virginia., on Beaton Avenue. Mr Lee was listed as a " Gen. Farm Overseer" and James was listed as a "Drug Store Salesman". It is unknown at this time if this Hill family ws related to our Hill family, although it is probable.

According to a converstion that I had with a Mr Lassiter in the Boykins Post Office last year (2006) Uncle James worked for a Market on Main Street in Boykins. He didn't remember exactly what year that was, Uncle James does not show on any US Census except he 1930. I also visited with my cousin, Frances Powells's Niece, and she gave me photos of Uncle James and his wife Frances.
