[edit] About Captain BerryCaptain James Edmondson Berry was 27 years old when the war broke out. He joined Co.H of the 37th Virginia Infantry in July 1961 as a private. He was elected Lieutenant in April 1862. He was a Captain and Commander of Co. H by October of 1862. He was wounded in both thighs at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, May 10th, 1864. He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, then transferred to Henry and Emory Hospital in Washington County,Virginia. The book on the 37th Virginia Infantry Regiment says he is buried in Zion Church Cemetery in Washington County, but the book on Washington County Cemeteries show no listing for him.
