    Lt. James was an original member of Stratfield Church, 1695, and his wife Mary joined by letter from Stratford, 1695. James Sr. and Mary Bennett witnessed will of Mrs. Abigail Hubbell, 11 Feb. 1705, and James Sr. (with Philip Lewis) witnessed the codicil 10 Dec. 1717; all three witnesses made oath, 5 Feb. 1717/8. After death of his son James, Lt. James in 1714 confirmed gift of lands to the widow and children of his son."
