(From S1): Born about 1612 in Yorkshire, England. Came to Rowley, Mass., in the Massachusetts Bay Colony about 1640. He married Lydia Emery. He died in Rowley August 9, 1677. She died in Rowley, April 29, 1704. It appears from the town records that James Bailey acquired by allotment and purchase considerable real estate... He held various town offices, including the office of Overseer of the Poor and also that of selectman for several years... James Bailey was a brother of Richard Bailey who came to New England in 1638...
