- From "Reynolds' Pioneer History of Illinois" (Belleville, 1852):
- Nothing of note occurred among the little band of pioneers until 1785 when they were joined by Capt. Joseph Ogle, Joseph Wolrey, and James Andrews, all with large families from Western Virginia and but a few miles from Wheeling.
- James Andrews, Joseph White and Samuel McClure, who were killed by the Indians in 1786 (p. 123).
- James A. Mace's wife was Drusilla ANDREWS, daughter of James Andrew and Elizabeth Ogle. The parents were killed by Indians is 1786 and Drusilla was taken captive.
