[Edna (Vinson) Davis Relatives.FTW] NAME: Many list his name as 'George Jacob'. However, I've never seen anything with George on it. Irene writes: "He left no will, but they have court records of getting rid of his goods. I have a copy of it. Itsays JACOB. "

1769 -Seven original judicial districts (Camden, Cheraws, Georgetown,Charleston, Beaufort, Orangeburg, & 96th District) were established in SC from portions of Colleton and Granville Counties as one of sevenoriginal judicial districts. , but records continued to be kept in Charleston until 1780. Split in 1798 to form: Abbeville, Edgefield, Newberry, Laurens and Spartanburg Districts, and Ninety-Six was discarded as a district name. 1779 - <http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/data/sc+index+124041352066+F> - Colony's Carolina WRIGHT , Jacob 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT WRIGHT , John 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT WRIGHT , William 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT WRIGHT , William 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT WATERS , Philemon 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT WATERS , Philemon 1779 Colony, SC Resident Old 96th DISTRICT MY NOTE: This is the first record that we have of our Jacob Wright that puts him in the area that became Laurens Co, SC. At this time, we do NOT KNOW for sure IF this Philemon Waters is related or not - but since Jacob Wright did marry a Waters and a Philemon Wright is a very common name in Jacob's descendants - it is definitely something to keepin mind!

1788 -Laurens Co, SC -Abstracts of Early Records of Lauren County, SC 1785-1830 (Salt Lakefiche #6010650) Compiled by Sara N. Nash (Please note some of these old deeds were very difficult to read) "DEED BOOK B 267. 11/19/1787-1/12/1788. Jacob Bowman, son & heir to Jacob Bowman, Decd., to John Bowman for L10, 150 a. on both sides of Reedy R., orig.gr. to Richd. Ballard in 1778 & conv. by him to Jacob Bowman, Decd. B. on Robt Box, David Alexander, Jacob Wright. Wit Geo. Anderson, Saml. Wharton, Sarah Wright. " "DEED BOOK C 285. 8/20/1789-10/16/1790. Geo. Madden, Pl., & mother Ann to David Ragsdale, Pl. for L26. 100 a. on Reedy R., b. on Jacob Wright. Wit:DavidMadden, Thomas Ragsdale, Geo. Anderson, J.P." MY NOTE: The main thing that these two deeds does is places our JacobWright in a general area around Reedy River in 1788-1790 time frame and also gives us some of his neighbors. It also PROVES that George W. Wright is a son of Jacob Wright.

1790 - 1st census 96th Dist., Laurens county, SC - Image: 0255, Roll M637_11 (Ancestry.Com) "Ragsdale William 3 males over 16, 1 male under 16, 2 females" "Wright George 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, 1 female"

      • living next door to William Ragsdale****

"Jacob Wright 2 males over 16, 2 males under 16, 3 females" MY NOTE: This shows that more than likely George Wright was already married by the 1790 census. The 2 males over 16 would be Jacob Wright (the father) and Jacob Wright (the son) (b. Dec 1774 and married 1797) The 2 males under 16 would be William and Thomas. 3 Females would be 1) Elizabeth Waters - the wife, 2) Elizabeth - the daughter born 1784 who married Robert Rasdall and the 3) well I just> don't know who she is or even if she is a daughter?
