I'm looking for any information about George HOUCK who was b. 1782 in Emmitsburg, Frederick Co. He married Mary Ann SNYDER about 1816. He was the son of John HOUCK of PA. About 1836 George and family moved to Clark Co., OH. I'd appreciate any information about George and his wife Mary Ann. I have no idea who her parents were, but she was supposed to be of Pennsylvania Dutch lineage. She was born in 1794 in PA, maybe around Gettysburg. They had the following children (all born in MD): Keziah, Mary Ann, William, Rebecca, Louisa, George Oliver, Elizabeth and Edwin.

Hi Jim, I have gone down to Annapolis last Thursday and I have gotten copies of a few Last Wills and Adminstration Accounts, or abstracted from them and I am inputting all the info into my Family Tree Maker version 5.0 and wondering What you are using to input your family history?

I don't know if Jacob is the son of my Barnett and Barbara Wolf Houck, there is another Houck family in the Frederick area and I think the immigrant ancestor is Michael. I have the Barnett Houck Last Will but he gave everything to his wife Barbara and she died about 1 year later...so I need to look for a Last Will and/or a Adminstration Account for her and see if it mentions Jacob in Fred Co or Va or whatever. I have abstracted the Last Will of Mary Lowe, mother in law to Jacob, but he renunicated and his brother George was the sole Adminstrator. Ezra is the son of George Houck and Catherine Getzendanner, who was married on 10 Sept 1801 in Frederick Co., Md. And Ezra Houck is a nephew to Michael Houck, by Michael last Will, probated, 5 Aug 1854...but I believe this is Michael of Michael, the immigrant...as soon as I get these Wills typed up I will post them on the GenConnect Surname site and if you are using Family Tree Maker program I can send you a family file as soon as I am done inputting and I am hoping to go to Annapolis next Wednesday to get Barbara Houck's Adminstration Accounts and that might clear so things up.

I will stay in touch...do you have names of the children of Jacob and Catherine Lowe Houck? In case they are mentioned in tha Adm. Accts...Did Jacob stay in Va.? Where do you pick him up at?

I'm a decendant of Barnet Houck through his grandson Jacob F. Houck who settled in Ohio. I did reply to your post on the Family Tree Maker site but I wanted to get some details from you....and direct you to another site and person to check with! Go to the RootsWeb site <http://www.rootsweb.com> and go to the GenConnect forums. There are Houck family forums there for posting queries, wills, biographies and other assorted information. The host there is a Houck cousin from Maryland. She has a wealth of information on Barnet Houck and the Houcks who remained behind in Maryland. Her Email address will be found at the bottom of each forum. She's filled in a lot of my gaps! She's finding more information every day!

I have 3 different Jacob Houcks listed so far! It's nice to have all this admiration for other family members and be named after them but it makes it confusing sometimes! Give me some details about your Jacob Houck and who Ezra was the son of. I have no listing of Ezra. I don't have Cyrus either. There is a Jacob son of Barnet and a Jacob son of William. I have another Jacob Houck as a son of George Houck. Like I said, it gets a bit hard to keep all the Jacobs straight! :)
