Facts and Events
Jacob Crist was one of the Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia
Parentage of Jacob Crist
Some researchers have placed Jacob Crist as the son of Andrew Crist and Elizabeth Reid, but Andrew appears to have had another son named Jacob, who married Lydia Mowry in 1800, which appears to be problematic, unless it can be proven that Andrew had two sons named Jacob. More research necessary.

Information on Jacob Crist
From Ancestry.com post:
In reference to your query from several weeks ago, I believe the Jacob Crist you ask about, b. 1801 Augusta Co., VA, is the son of Jacob Crist and Margaret "Peggy" Hoh of Augusta Co., VA. I don't have the proof for this, but have seen this connection in several other people's research.
Jacob Crist died in 1805 in Augusta Co., VA. Augusta Co., VA, Will Book 10 pg 1 has will of Jacob Crist, signed 4 Jan 1805 Augusta Co., VA, names wife Peggy and 5 children Ellisabeth, Barbary, Kitty, Jacob, and Susannah. There's more on his estate on page 10. I also found references to a Jacob Crist estate in Will Book Volume 16 p. 217, Vol. 18 p. 208, Vol. 19 p. 83, Vol 22 p. 315. But I did not look at these pages to know if it is the same Jacob Crist or not. Peggy Crist is on the 1810 census of Augusta Co., VA.
Research on Jacob Crist in Augusta Co. can be a challenge since there are two Jacob Crists, both about the same age, in this time period.

one month later Abraham Miller sells this same land to a Jacob Crist. I have assumed it was the Jacob Crist who married Margaret Hoh. However, the Augusta Co., VA, land tax rolls seem to have the two Jacob Crists reversed, at least to my way of thinking. So I get confused on the two Jacob Crists.
