    JABEZ, born 10 October 1748; son of Elihu, and Keziah Willey, sometimes called James (a pal[p]able error of Jabez); married 1st Lucy Stebbins 15 September 1771. She was daughter of John Stebbins and Sarah Miner (Joseph, William, Clement, Thomas). Jabez is listed in the 1790 census as a resident of the Giliead section of Waterford, Conn. Also named in New London Land Records as a "sufferer" from the late war, he received lands in the Western Reserve. Jabez married 2nd Hannah Howard who was born in New London, Conn. 17 January 1754, daughter of Nathan Howard and Lucy Miner (Clement, Clement, Clement, Thomas).
