Well now that the WINFREE/WINFREY/TRAYLOR rabbit has beentemporarily retired to his cage, let me loose a new rabbit.  :-) Have either of you read, have, of have knowledge of a book entitled,±b?±i?The Phelps of Lawson's Bottom and Most of Their Relatives±/b?±/i? by Colonel Harry H. Ellis, 1987? ±i?He beings his narrative of the WINFREY portion with Israel SamuelWinfrey, Sr. (Abt 1770-1856) who married Frances Holley. Helists Samuel as a son of William WINFREY instead of John WINFREYand Mary TURPIN. "The Winfrey family that played a part in the earlyhistory of Cumberland County came from Virginia. An early Virginiahistory seems to place William WIINFREY as the progenitor of theKentucky family. He came to Fayette County in 1784 and was a richlandowner there. He is listed as the father of Israel, Sr., Philip, Henry,John and James. James settled in Warren and Christian Counties;Henry stopped in Lincoln County in 1799; John in Adair County with his brother in 1799."±/i? He gives as his source, ±b?±i?History of Cumberland County±/b?±/i?, J. W. Wells.Have either of you read, have, of have knowledge of a this book? In spite of this error on the progenitor, it does list on its 12 pages of WINFREY material, several marriages of the various WINFREY descendants that I did not have.
