    -Called "Capt." Isaac Thompson.
    -"1. ISAAC THOMPSON was born ca 1671 and is believed to be the one reported in the Hempstead Diary (p 338) as "an Eggharbour man Capt. Isaac Thompson of Westerly" who was buried 24 August 1738. Stercula though Isaac might be another son of the John Thompson who came to Stamford, Connecticut (from place unknown) ca 1667, moved to Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York in 1668; and was in Brookhaven, L.I. in 1673. That John Thompson died between 16 June 1691 and 28 Aug. 1699 and his wife Mary _____ may be the one who died in Stonington, Connecticut, Feb. 1698 at age 67. John and Mary had only two children known for certain (from deeds): (1) William Thompson b. ca 1659; m. 7 Dec. 1692 in Stonington, CT, Bridget Chesebrough; d. 13 June 1705; and (2) Samuel Thompson b. 4 March 1668; m. Hannah (Brewster) Muncey; d. 14 July 1749 Brookhaven, L.I. Stercula thought that other children might include: (3) Elizabeth Thompson m. Job Smith s/o Richard Smith and Sarah Folger of Smithtown, Long Island, NY; (4) Abigail Thompson m. John Tooker of Brokkhaven, L.I.; (5) John Thompson resided Brookhaven, L.I., N.Y.; and (6) the Isaac Thompson b. ca 1671, the subject of this genealogy.

    Isaac married in 1696, Mary Holmes d/o Joshua Holmes and Abigail (Ingraham) Chesebrough. Although he served as J.P. of Westerly, Washington Co., Rhode Island from 1708 to 1714, he later was a seafaring man. He left will dated 16 August 1736, proved 5 Sept. 1738. He was buried 24 August 1738 in Westerly; wife Mary died in 1751. Children (all born Westerly, R.I. and baptised in 1st Church, Stonington, CT):"
