He came to Kentucky at the age of seven years, and was the fourth of eleven children born to Gabriel and Susanna (Stokes) May. ... Humphrey May's wives were Elizabeth and Margaret Connelly, the daughters of John Connelly and Frances Brent, who immigrated from Fluvana [sic] County, Va., to Nelson County, Ky., in 1805. ...
