  3. Being sound in mind but ia a very dangerous condition arising from a knife wound made in the left breast in the region of the heart, I fear that it may prove fatal and if so I bequeath to my wife, my entire estate during her life the property consists of land, negroes, mules and cattle and horses, all are joint property or partnership property accept one white horse an old buggy with Mr R R Barrow who I appoint my executor hoping he will in his kindness accept and it is my wish that my wife and children will do everything in their power toward carrying the business on as they know my feeling toward Mr Barrow are those of implicit confidence and they should be towards a tried friend. I hope they will never allow the tongue of malice to cause the least question of his acts and that they will go to him for any counsel when any is needed. I wish my children to be thoroughly educated and that they may have morals and industry thoroughly cultivated.

I wish that my nephew Wallace Montgomery Boyer will continue with his aunt and that he will render all the assistance to Mr R R Barrow in conducting the business that is in his power. Mr Barrow will require his aid. I have evert confidence in his good sense but under the circumstances I consider his experience is not sufficient to conduct the planting and general management of a sugar plantation. I have written to Mr McGreger offering him three hundred dollars to boil my sugar and six hundred dollars to oversee. At these rates and amount I think he will accept commencing at such time as he may be releived from his present employment. He is a man of great experience and if not interfered with though he is a man who will be advised and consulted with I am sure that he will make good crops and it is my wish that if he can be got that he will do everything in his power fo the safe and profitable conduct of the business of the property. Boyer can make such arrange as his aunt can afford but I would that he would accept for his services at such time as the property is out of debt and able to pay (estate) the sum of five hundred dollars and I think that my experience of Mr R R Barrow's disposition to justice is that he will in my opinion award to my nephew W M Boyer the same amount should he render such valuable services equally benefits Mr R R Barrows hoping this last Will and Testament may be carried is my greatest wish.
