(`The Doctor`s Scrapbook` by J. W. Torbett, Sr., copyri gh  t 1947, printed  by Wilkinson Printing Company, Dallas, TX lists three brot  h ers came to  America (Samuel, Robert and John Torbett). Oscar C. Torbet  t of Ar lington  has, as of 1996, found no evidence that these Torbetts ar  e associated  with our Torbett line.  However, Oscar C. Torbett has found a reference to a  Rober  t Torbett in  Ayr Scotland with a son John Torbett b June 2, 1729 - thi  s  looks like a  good possibility.)  The following were referenced in `Chronic les of Scotch Iri  sh Settlement  in Virginia` by Chalky:  `May 1777, Hugh Torbe tt was selling his land with the inte  ntion of going  to Holston. After Nathani el Torbett came from Northward`  `Torbett vs Torbett - O.S.29; N.S.10-Augusta. Hugh and Robe  rt Torbett  were brothers. Samuel Torbett was son of Hugh. Anthon y Bla  ck married Hugh  Torbett`s daughter.`  Torbett heirs vs Campbell - O.S. 47;N.S.16. Bond 18 Nov 177  1...Hugh  Torbett of Chester County.  Plaintiffs ar e:Saml.
