Herbert C. Wardwell, 83, husband of Phyllis (Stevens) Wardwell, died Dec. 5, 2000, at a Bangor nursing home after a long illness. He was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Woodland, (Aroostook County) Maine, the son of Grover and Edna (Nelson) Wardwell Sr. He had worked as a machinist for a number of years and later as a carpenter. He had been a former resident of Corinthian Manor in Corinth, recently moving to Bangor. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Bangor, are one son, Galen Wardwell and his wife, Mary Ellen of Maynard, Mass.; a daughter, Gloria Cote and her husband, Arthur of Bangor; three sisters, Nellie Albee, Alice Dyer and Fern Malcolm, all of Bangor; a brother, Grover Wardwell Jr. of Yon Calla, Ore.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Rd., Corinth, 10 a.m. Friday until time of services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald E. Libby officiating.
