STRICKLER CEMETERY. UPPER TYRONE TWP.
I may have posted this before I really got into this cemetery hunting. But
to be sure, here it is. This is the old Strickler Cem. It is located on the
river hillabout 1 mile from the Hickory Square Church To find it take RT 119
North out of Connellsville, PA. Just as you are leaving town you will see a
Advance Auto parts store on right, just before it you turn left across a
small bridge. You are headed to Broadford. Stay on this road, you will go
down a steep hill with several curves. At the bottom you will cross railroad
tracks. The main road turns to right you will see a road to the left going up
a hill. Turn left up hill, about 3/10 af a mile you will see a road to left
(Valley Road) turnon to it. Go abt. 2/10 mile until you see a field on
left, on a curve. Stopwalk up bank to field, on top of hill to right you
will see a point of woods running out into the field about 1/2 mile awa
This is where the cemetery is. Walk around the edge of field to get to it.
This cemetery is surrounded by a 4 foot stone wall is grown up with trees 1
foot in, and blackberry briars. There are several unmarked field stones,
some stones on the ground possiblysome buried in leaves and brush.
