Obituary for Henry Bishop Perkins, Jr.

From: Warren Daily Chronicle (Warren, Ohio)
Issue: 20 Oct 1900, pa.3 col. 2

"Death of Henry Bishop Perkins Jr.

The announcement of the sudden death of Mr. Henry Bishop Perkins, Jr., this morning, was a profound shock to the entire community. He was in apparent robust health and spirits when last seen by his friends, which made the news of his demise most unexpected, and his taking-off is sincerely and deeply regretted. At an early hour this morning, his remains were found on the river bank west of the Kinsman premises. Mr. Perkins had for some time been at Greenwich, Conn., where his father was seeking the benefit of his health and had been a very close attendant on his parent's needs. It is presumed that he was considerably overworked, attended with anxiety. Deceased was the youngest son of Senator and Mrs. H. B. Perkins, a young man of most amiable qualities of head and heart, beloved by everybody. He was a member of Warren lodge of Elks, active in the affairs of the Trumbull Club, and a social leader.

His absence from home last night, caused some apprehension and in the search which ensued a note was found in his handwriting on the office desk which said, 'Look for me on the river bank back of Kinsmans.' A wound in his head made by a pistol shot, coupled with the note, indicates that the death of Mr. Perkins was caused by his own act. Deceased was born in Warren in 1871."
