• 1841 Census living with Family:William Lee and Hannah Heritage (1). Both William Lee age 32 and Henry Longmore age 25 have occupations of "Carpet Weavers". I suspect they are coworkers.

History

Henry Longmore was born the 9th of May 1817 in Bridgnorth England. He lived there until he was twenty one years of age. He moved to Bath, England, and met Jane Bolton Hall, a widow with three children, and was married when he was twenty-three years old. They had three children. Henry Charles, George and Eliza Hale. Eliza Hale was ten years old when her Dad was converted to the Mormon Church. Henry and his son George came to Utah in 1862 with an ox team. He first made his home in Lehi on forty acres of land. He and his son George made the adobe for a two room house. He raised sugar cane, wheat and potatoes. While in Lehi he took two orphan boys and raised them. Their father and mother had died while coming across the plains. Their names were William and Charles Silverwood. Charles Silverwood was a bookkeeper at the ZCMI for many years. In 1863 a step son came over. Then in 1864 Henry's wife Jane , Martha, Henry and Eliza Hale came to join him. They lived in Lehi for another year after they arrived then they moved to East Millcreek. They lived in the log house which John Neff Sr. owned. He raised bees and also had a nursery. He raised the first budded orange peaches in Utah. The buds were brought here by David Henderson. At one time they owned the tract of land where the city and county offices are on 21st South. He sold it for a team of horses, harness and wagon. In 1889 he sold all of his property and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. They lived there for a year and a half and then moved back to Salt Lake to live with their daughter Eliza Hale who had married Joseph Waller. He was a well respected member of the LDS Wilford Ward. When it was first organized under the Bishopric of J.D. Cumming. Bishop Cummings always had a reserved seat on the stand for him. He bore his testimony every fast day that he was able to be there.

• 1841 UK Census of Bridgnorth. Street living on is Bernards Hill. Occupation listed is Carpet Weaver. His age listed is 25. He is living will the family of William Lee who is also a carpet weaver.
• 1844 GRO Marriage Record. Spouse is Jane Hall. Profession listed is Carpet Weaver. Residence is listed as Bernards Hill.
• 1845 Parish baptism record of son Henry Longmore Jr. Profession listed is Carpet Weaver. Residence is listed as Bernards Hill.
• 1846 Parish baptism record of son George Longmore. Profession listed is Carpet Weaver. Residence is listed as Bernards Hill.
• 1849 Parish baptism record of son Elize Longmore. Profession listed is Carpet Weaver. Residence is listed as Bernards Hill.
• 1851 UK Census of Bridgnorth. Profession listed is Carpet Weaver. Residence is listed as Bernards Hill. Also living with Henry is step children from Jane Halls previous marriage.
• 1862 LDS Church Records - Bath Branch (several). Show baptism dates. Also shown is donations to perpetual immigration fund.
• 1862 Ship register. Ship name is William Tapscott. Check this out
• 1862 Wagon Train. He came across plains on John Murdock wagon train.
• 1870 US Census - Utah. Specific location is the Big Cottonwood ward. Occupation listed is Wool washer. Wife and two children Henry and Eliza are living with him.
• 1870 Patriachal Blessing. List mothers name as Ellen Douglas. This really gets me wondering - did he know that she remarried?
• 189? High Priest Geneology - Mill Creek Ward.
• 1894 Proxy for parents ordinances done in Salt Lake Temple.
• 1900 US Census - Utah. Living with his daughter Eliza who is married to Joseph Waller.
