'The other connection starts with two Locher brothers from Zurich who came to Philadelphia in 1765. Their names were Henry and Frederick. My dad worked hard on his family genealogy and had copies of the family tree, tracing these two brothers in Philadelphia to the Locher family in Glasgow, Virginia. In 1765, our country required that immigrants have a trade in order to get a job quickly. Henry and Frederick were tanners who settled in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Henry Locher married Elizabeth Hoffman, and they had a son named George and four daughters. George married Elizabeth Shafer, and they had a son named Charles Hess Locher." - A Family Divided
