Facts and Events
[edit] About Henry GoldMacy Jewelry Company Henry Samuel Gold was a successful jeweler in Hollywood and Beverley Hills, California during (approximately) the 1940's into the 1960's. For many years, he owned and operated "Macy Jewelry Co.", which was located at 6384 Hollywood Boulevard (corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Cahuenga) in Hollywood, California, which is now (as of 2012) a "Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits" restaurant.
Henry later became a "Jeweler to the Stars" when he opened a second store called "Henry S. Gold Jewelers" (established in 1916) at 317 N. Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills into the 1950's and perhaps later. Listings in the Beverley Hills Buyers Guide in the 1950's describes Henry Gold's Rodeo Drive Jewelry Store as "Antique, Jewelry & Silver... Purchaser of Estate & Private Jewelry - Established Since 1916". As of 2012, this location is now the site for "Miu Miu", an upscale fashion designer. In 1958, Henry Gold was also working for Van Elgort & Associates, the local agency for the Midland Mutual Life Insurance Company. He is listed in The Beverley Hills Citizen as qualifying for the top honorary group, "The President's Club", for meeting the "high standards of personal insurance sales and service." [Source: The Beverley Hills Citizen, 6 March 1958].
Henry Gold married Ruth "Honey" Waldman abt. 1916 and they had one son, Erwin Henry Gold. Henry and Ruth were active in social circles in Beverley Hills, were listed in several social directories during the 1950's and as having participated in charitable and community associations such as "The Helpers" (Charity Dinner Dance, November 26, 1958), as reported in The Beverley Hills Citizen, Tuesday, November 18, 1958. Their grandchildren affectionately called their grandmother Ruth "Honey".
