Henry FENIMORE served in the military Mid 1770's in New Jersey. Henry served in the Continental Line of NJ and NJ State Troops during the Revolutionary War. Henry served under Capt. John Noble Cumming of Freehold, NJ in the regiment of Col. Israel Shreve. He fought in the Battle of Monmouth, at Freehold. He was also on guard duty at Elizabeth Town and Newark. When Henry returned home after serving throughout the entire war he returned home in rags and had changed so much in physical condition and appearance that the members of his family did not recognize him when they came to the door.
