Henry was a Royal Marine on HMS Terrible and gained a S African Medal and a China Medal for his part in the Relief of Peking. He was given a "Hurt" certificate on 9 Dec 1901 after being accidentally shot in the left side of his head whilst coming home from China on board the HMS Terrible. He was invalided home in 1903.

Enlisted on 12 Feb 1895, Portsmouth. Occupation at time of enlistment: Brush Maker, CofE, Height: 5ft 7" and on discharge 5ft 8.5". Hair Dark Brown and Hazel eyes. Also had a faint tattoo on his left forearm. His S African medal reputedly sold recently (typed July 2007) at Spink Auction.
He is mentioned in the book Commission of HMS Terrible by George Crowe and is listed as receiving a China medal in the book.
Cause of death: Bullet wound in the head by his own hand. Shot himself while insane, Suffered a previous head injury whilst returning home on board HMS Terrible from China.
