Helena was age 25 when married and birthed eight children. She lived in difficult circumstances with marriage problems and many small children at home on a farm. After her divorce, she came into full possession of all land and assets and continued to raise the minor children on the rapidan farm. She threw out her husband and attempted to carry on with her life at age 50. She is devote Lutheran church goer. Sometime in 1905-07, the family moves to a Medo farm near Mapleton (Fred Seefeldt) and live here until Sept. 1917 after Paul’s death and they move to Litchfield area to own a farm and be close to the Berndts. The farm is in Harvey twp. and Otto and Robert are both farmers. She died at Ida’s Mpls. house at age 89 and was buried in Good Thunder, next to her son Paul.
Helen stays on Blue Earth farm after her divorce. Robert and Paul help with work. In about 1915 the family moves to Litchfield, Meeker County and buys a farm there. The Berndts are also living here.
