Met and married in small town of Hamer (Czeszow Poland) at age 29. Their oldest 4 children were born in Germany. In 1885 this family immigrated to New York on the ship S.S. Moravia out of Hamburg. They emigrated to MN about 1887 to land in Rapidan twp. just outside of Good Thunder. They settle in a rustic cabin on the Maple River and farm 60 chopped up acres. Fred caused legal problems (about 1895) in the county when he built a fense on a county road blocking it. He was guilty and sentence to time in jail. He possibly was hit in his head by a falling tree and this accident might have caused brain injury and mental problems. In 1899, Helen filed for divorce due to cruelty and an abberated mind. He was cast out of the family home and drifted around the area for about two years. In July 1902 he was determined to be insane and sent to St. Peter State Hospital. In Jan. 1916 he was transferred to Hastings State Asylum. He died here at age 83 in 1946 and is buried by the state in the asylum cemetery.

Immigrated to Blue Earth County, MN. Was arrested for blocking a road and found guilty in 1895 Helena is granted a divorce and keeps farm and Fred is wandering around county. Finally in 1905 he is picked up by the Watawon sheriff and committed to St. Peter State Hospital. He is transferred to Hastings State Asylum
