Hohlier, Helen Louise (Illingworth), age 92, passed away on December 22, 2007 in Laguna Hills, California. She was born June 7, 1915, in Los Angeles, to Grant and Blanche Baker Illingworth, of Randsburg, California where her father ran a general mercantile store. When Helen was 2 the family moved to Santa Ana, and she lived in this area until her death. The family had a long association with Alpha Beta Markets. Her father was an early partner in the chain, and managed the Costa Mesa store until his retirement. Her brothers James, Jack and Robert, as well as her son Michael managed area stores. She graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1933, and soon after married Eugene L. Wood. They were divorced in 1957, and in later years she was married to Glen Boyd, Charles Maciha and Truman Hohlier, all of whom have preceded her in death. Mrs. Hohlier spent her life as a homemaker, and was known for her hospitality and cooking abilities, once winning a new stove as the grand prize in the lemon pie-baking contest at the Orange County Fair. She enjoyed her family and friends, and traveled several times to other parts of the country as well as Europe to visit family members. She was much loved by her family and friends for her outgoing ways, sense of humor, and positive outlook. She is also recognized as the last of the original residents of Randsburg. Family memorabilia is on display at the Randsburg Museum. Surviving are sons, William Wood (Janis) of Longview, WA, and Michael Wood (Charlene) of Irvine; 10 grandchildren; 19 great, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. One son, Jack, and two great- grandchildren preceded her in death. Private services and interment at Fairhaven Cemetery. In honor of Helen, the family requests you light a candle in her memory at 6 p.m. on 1/6/2008.
